On 27.11.1984 in Zürich, Klaus J. Jacobs opened the “Jacobs Suchard Museum“, which he had also founded. Following the sale of Jacobs Suchard to Philipp Morris in 1990, the museum’s collection was passed on to the Jacobs Foundation, also in Zürich. As a consequence, the museum assumed the name it has today: Johann Jacobs Museum. This commemorates the museum founder’s great uncle, Johann Jacobs (1869-1958). With the opening of his “Specialist Shop for Coffee, Tea, Cocoa, Chocolate and Biscuits“ in Bremen back in 1895, he layed the foundations of the successful Jacobs Coffee empire.
